Navatec Thin Clients ** are designed to lever the power of online business applications as far into a company's work tasks as the customer wishes. They take up around 10% of the volume of normal desk tops or tower systems.
There are two types of Thin Client:
- A Navatec-Gateway which acts as an Internet interface with a wireless router serving networks of legacy workstations or Navatec-hw thin clients
- Navatec-Thin Client which is a lower cost standalone or network computer for use with online business applications
All are supplied as a "single package" containing ready-to-go online applications interfaces, browsers and virtual clients (Navatec-voyager).
Navatec Thin Clients can be stuck under table tops or against the wall or stood upright to reduce their space consumption. Popular in cramped office and industrial environments alike. Multiple USBs (6) on the Navatec-Gateway mean connectivity is good for any external devices and alternative communications.
Gateways and Thin Clients come with Microsoft®Windows® XP Professional to provide coherent networking and security capabilities under the Gateway firewall and to permit users to load and use any of their own software.
** The term Thin Clients was commonly used in relation to software. However during 2005 the term became increasingly used to refer to hardware also; whereas this can lead to confusion it is now a term in common use for low capacity hardware.
